Interstitial 2E: Our Worlds Connected
A downloadable TTRPG
Interstitial encourages you to play with your toys. Take characters from media you enjoy, relive multi-fandom RP days, and be your most indulgent self.
In it's themes, Interstitial is a game about the connections between people, the impact of changing relationships, and the power of friendship.
Cringe is dead—you're free now.
The first edition, Interstitial: Our Hearts Intertwined, was the first game I ever designed and released as a product. I'm proud of it, but aware of it's setbacks. For the past two years, I have been cooking up the second edition.
Interstitial 2E fixes what never worked, breaks what needed breaking, and gives everything just a bit of a buff—all while maintaining the heart.
I get it, but what EXACTLY is new?
- All playbook moves and basic moves revised for clarity and thematic cohesion.
- Stats removed from the game entirely, and now you're always rolling with Links.
- New ways to generate Links added so play is no longer halted, and a new tier above Locked has been created.
- A functional and considered Gamemaster's Guide.
Interstitial is a Powered By The Apocalypse game that is based around the Links System. Links represent your relationships with others and are separated into four types: Light, Dark, Mastery, and Heart.
- A Light Link is a friendship, a rival, a romantic interest, etc.
- A Dark Link is an enemy, a hater, distrustful family member, etc.
- A Mastery Link is a teacher, a student, an unwilling mentor, etc.
- A Heart Link is someone you see yourself reflected in, someone who reminds you of someone else, someone you want to subconsciously be more like.
When you make a Link, you write it down on your sheet, and over the events of your journey you will have a sprawling list of the characters you've interacted with and the stepping stones you took to get there. You also spend Links as mechanical currency to use moves, reroll, and sometimes even Lock or Bond Links to indicate greater significance.

Hi, not sure if this is the best place to ask, but - Not a Puppet for You in the Roleplayer playbook mentions taking two hold, but I can't see anywhere what to... do with it. Am I just holding onto Kris Deltarune (times two)
Also while I'm here I love the Roleplayer so much thank you for it
Ooh, I think that was for a vestigal ability for the Roleyplayer where they had a "control" meter. In this case, I I'd say mark it as take Lift.
Perfect, thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly!
Hi. Sorry to post this here but I'm not sure if my E-Mail came through
I did buy the Post Kickstarter Pre-Order Physical Copy of the 2nd Editionback at the end of May 2024 along with the physical copy of the 1st Edition, and I also placed an order of another physical copy of 1st Edition back in November of 2024.
And when I woke up yesterday I got an E-Mail that now the PDF version of Interstitial 2nd Edition is up for sale here now, which is great news in my eyes.
However I have two questions concerning my orders.
1 : Both Mails state that "Once your package ships we will send you a notification email", however I never got any E-Mails of that nature, not for the order from november, not for the order placed in may, and when I check both orders for their status it still says "Pending fulfillment", and I understand that the order from May might take a while because it contains the Pre-Order of the 2nd Edition, but the other order has the same status and there is only the 1st Edition book in that and the 1-3 weeks for shipping have been long exceeded, so.... where's my book?
2 : The Interstitial 2E Post Kickstarter Pre-Order Physical stated on the store page that it comes with a PDF. However I never received an E-Mail or anything containing said PDF. And now that it's up on Itch.io for sale, I'm wondering where my PDF is and when and how I'll get it? Because I really don't want to pay something I already bought a second time just to get only part of what I paid for already.
I'm sending out the backer and post backer PDFs but by bit, my mail merge software only lets me send 100 emails at a time, so your game is coming!! It's just unfortunately taking a moment because of the send limits. I'm sorry for the inconvenience!
As far as your 1e copy... I'm going to investigate that, because you should have received it by now. I'll find your email and follow up- is the handle the same as your handle here?
Ah, I see, thanks for clarifying.
As for my handle, no but I'm not too comfortable sharing that in a comment section. I can give you the order numbers though, Order#581 and Order#608 (which is also the title of said mail), and the text in my E-Mail is basically the exact same as the comment I posted.
Also I just noticed the comment left by cellobuster, does that mean there are no physical copies? Sorry for my confusion, I'm just really damn exhausted today.
No worries! There are physical copies for the Kickstarter, but I don't think I'll be setting up a POD system for them like 1e has, so the Kickstarter stock will likely be the only stock
POD System?
Print on Demand! That's what I use for the easy to use Interstitial 1E physical copies.
Also, I went and made sure these were shipped today. They should be on their way!
Really excited to see one of my favorite ttrpgs getting a sequel! :)
Hey Riley you should put a link to where to buy the physical book on this page
I'm still not sure if I am goign to sell physical books in post like 1E- But when I decide if I can/will I will absolutely do that!
Cringe will NEVER die!!!!!
IT WAS ME! I WAS THE CONNECTED PLAYER T_T
Coincidentally I also prefer GMing to playing.
